Helicopter Crew Aids in Fighting Fire

The US Forest Service is getting some help from a helicopter crew to battle a fire in the Badlands. The Forest Service Hot Shot crew is from the Los Padres National Forest and the 206 Bell helicopter, capable of dumping between 80 and 100 gallons of water, was dispatched from Montana.

The Plumely Draw fire is about eight miles south of Medora and is estimated at about 60 acres. According to the Forest Service, there is active burning on 25 to 30 percent of the fire with torching and spotting, they say that no structures are threatened.
