Contract Awarded for Hoge Island Stabilization

| 7/31/2012

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers awarded a contract today for repairs to stabilize banks in the Hoge Island area. The nearly one million dollar contract will pay for work that includes placing about 10,800 tons of stone along the Missouri River and repairing areas damaged by last year`s flood and protecting against future flooding.

The contract announcement was made today by North Dakota`s Congressional Delegation.

"River bank stabilization is a key component in protecting against future flooding in Hoge Island and other Missouri River communities," said the delegation. "We`re continuing to work to ensure the Corps addresses flood control issues across the state, including bank stabilization and sandbar management efforts in the Bismarck-Mandan area."

The delegation has also been working to address sandbars and other flow constrictions on the Missouri River.
