Second Temporary Williston Truck Bypass to be Built

| 7/31/2012

In an effort to relieve truck traffic in Williston, a second temporary truck bypass will be built around the eastern side of the city. The plans for the bypass were announced today by Governor Jack Dalrymple and state Department of Transportation Director Francis Ziegler.

The state plans to resurface a section of County Road 9 and County Road 6, which will act as a temporary bypass, re-routing trucks along the eastern edge of Williston.

"These temporary bypasses will take a tremendous amount of truck traffic out of the city of Williston," Dalrymple said. "We also recognize the need for a long-term solution and we will continue to work with local officials and residents who will determine the route for a permanent bypass."

A bypass on the west side of the city is expected to be completed in late August. Construction on the second, east-side bypass is expected to start in late summer and be completed by the end of the year.

Both bypasses will temporarily re-route traffic while officials finalize plans for a permanent solution.
