Roller Derby athletes were in front of Central Market this afternoon selling brats and burgers to raise money for their teams. The BisMan Bombshellz and BomberZ held the BBQ at the Central Market off Divide in Bismarck.

For $2.50, hungry shoppers could purchase a brat or burger with chips and a drink. The athletes say fundraisers like this help the teams immensly.

We just need to do fun fundraisers so that we can continue to put on bouts in the Bismarck-Mandan community", said Melissa Murphy of the Bombshellz. "We`re a non-profit organization and so we pay dues to the league just to keep going but to put on the big events we really need extra money because the Civic Center is not cheap. And we also like to give to charity so we just need that extra cushion."

The Bombshellz and BomberZ will next play at the Bismarck Civic Center on September 15.
