National Bowling Day | Video

Rene Thibault | 8/10/2012

This week is National Bowling Week, and what better way to celebrate it than to get out and try to shoot for that perfect 300 game. The goal of National Bowling Week is to get people out and on the lanes. While bowling can be a fun and entertaining sport, the number of people bowling has dropped almost ten percent across the country.

In Minot, North Hill Bowl has made some improvements to their lanes, and they hope people turn out to play a sport that`s still popular here.

Bowling at North Hill Bowl isn’t just a business, it’s a family affair, “It`s been a family business for 55 years, and our business is growing, the oil business is helping us out, the Air Force Base is a big factor for us. And luckily bowling has declined nationally, but we keep increasing with bowlers every year, and our open bowling has been great,” said Rory Selk. North Hill Bowl was built and is owned and operated by the Selk family.

So, naturally, the entire Selk family hopes that lots of people turn out tomorrow for the official National Bowling Day. Bowling centers and leagues across the country will total up tomorrow`s turn out, and they hope to beat last years number of almost one million games bowled.
