NDGOP Applauds Romney`s VP Choice | Video

Joel Porter | 8/11/2012

The North Dakota Republican Party is busy watching statewide races over the next three months. In the meantime, they say presidential candidate Mitt Romney chose wisely in picking Wisconsin congressman Paul Ryan to join him on the ballot.

NDGOP executive director Anthony Reedy says not only does Ryan carry support from the Midwest, but he`s been an outspoken advocate against bigger government spending.

Reedy says that`s one thing he believes voters will look for when choosing their next president.

"And I think people are really yearning for a chance to have a substinant conversation about the issues. And not just empty platitudes and campaign promises. They`re looking for the grown-up discussion in the room and I think think Paul Ryan has been on the forefront of leading that discussion."

Republican party volunteers spent the weekend polling, calling homes around the state, asking residents about upcoming races.

North Dakota Democratic-NPL Party Chairman Greg Hodur says Romney`s selection escalates the war on Medicare.
