Washington Townhomes Groundbreaking | Video

Rene Thibault | 8/14/2012

Governor Jack Dalrymple, Senator John Hoeven and Congressman Rick Berg were all in Minot today for the groundbreaking of a new affordable rental housing development. The Washington Townhomes will be a two-phase project going in on 18th Avenue South-East.

The first phase will provide 32 new housing units. The development will offer a mix of 18 two-bedroom homes, 12 three-bedroom homes, and two four-bedroom units. Rent will range from under $400 month, to just over $900 a month.

Six of the 18 two-bedroom unites will be fully handicap accessible.

All of the speakers agreed that this project was important for Minot, “We`ve got to have a supply of affordable housing. This is a perfect example, we`re going to be able too get 64 housing units here, at subsidized rents some of them ranging as low as $398 a month. I think anybody in Minot would appreciate that, that`s a pretty good deal right now. So it`s a big part of what we`re trying to do in infrastructure in North Dakota," said Governor Dalrymple.

The project is set to be finished in August of 2013.
