Meals on Wheels is an organization that brings home delivered meals to people who are age 60 and over who are unable to prepare meals for themselves.

Volunteers come Monday through Friday to the Parker Senior Center between the hours of 11 and 11:30 to pick up cold and hot meals that are cooked from scratch.

The organization is given money from the state, county and local money towards the food.

Meals on Wheels also receives contributions from local businesses, the military base and other individual donations.

"It`s really the satisfaction of knowing you are providing for seniors throughout the city of Minot. Our seniors, it`s that give back that we can provide something for them, that has done stuff for us all of their lives and it`s time that we do something for them," says Roger Weich of Minot Commission on Aging.

Within the region, there are 28 meal sites within the 7 counties. And last year, they provided about 125,000 meals to seniors throughout the region. And 75,000 of those meals were in the Minot area.

Weich says that the friendly smiles that he receives helping the elderly is what makes his whole day.
