Main Street in Minot was overflowing Saturday with food, games, music and booths from downtown businesses. For the kids strolling along today there was a lot to keep them busy.
"First I went to the petting zoo, then I went to the bouncy castles, and then I went to get my face painted,” said attendant Ava Lee.
There`s been many new businesses to the area in the last year, and this was the perfect opportunity to acquaint new or long time residents of these businesses.
"I think this a great event for awareness to bring people downtown and to see all of the wonderful shops and merchants and the things that we have to offer downtown and just to remember that it`s here and there are a lot of places to shop and eat that people forget about,” said pastry chef Shanda Cool.
Cool owns the Sweet & Flour Patisserie, a café that offers French style pastries and breads. It`s been a fresh concept to the Minot area and having been open only ten weeks, Cool says she`s looking forward to being a part of the ever changing Minot area.
"We are so excited to be open and we`re so excited to be in Minot and we just got such a great reception from the people in Minot they`ve really been looking for a real bakery and so it`s just overwhelming in a way good way,.
The Festival on Main is keeping Cool on her toes with the steady flow of customers.
"The café has been open today and we have been very busy in the café as well, so having two location open at once is new for us right now, but it`s going great.”
It was a lively Saturday for all downtown businesses here and an entertaining one for many kids. The next event planned in downtown Minot is the Wine Walk on Thursday September 20.
