Prostitution Rising in Minot | Video

Amy Fox | 8/20/2012

The world’s oldest profession goes where the money is and with so much oil money in the area, it’s no wonder police are seeing more and more of a problem with prostitution in Minot.

People are using social media sites, like Backpage and Craigslist to advertise their services. Once they find an interested party, they`ll meet up at hotels, homes and bars throughout the city.

"We`ve had people call in and report it. We`ve had people that have been propositioned that have brought it to light. Again, it`s something we know about. I`ve personally heard from different hotel managers and owners that are definitely concerned about what`s going on in Minot and in their businesses, their hotels. So, it`s an issue that we`ve been discussing and that we`ve been trying to come up with ideas on how to pursue investigations,” said Sgt. David Goodman, Minot Police Department Investigations Division.

If you are approached by someone for a service, Sgt. Goodman recommends politely declining and reporting the information to police as soon as possible.
