Tribal Grants Awarded

| 8/30/2012

The U.S. Department of Justice has awarded four federal grants totaling more than one million dollars to assist North Dakota tribes in efforts to develop and enhance sex offender registration and notification programs. The grants, allocated through Support for Adam Walsh Act Implementation Grant Program, have been awarded to Three Affiliated Tribes of Fort Berthold, Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa Indians, Standing Rock Sioux Tribe and Spirit Lake Sioux Tribe.

Each tribe will use the money to further their efforts to implement the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act of 2006, which was enacted to protect the public from convicted sex offenders.
