Belcourt Man Sentenced for Assault with a Dangerous Weapon

A Belcourt man will serve over three years in prison on a charge of assault with a dangerous weapon. Bobby Bercier Jr., 35, pleaded guilty to the charge in March.

In May of 2011, Bercier stabbed another person in the stomach at a party. While the injury was not life-threatening, the victim sought medical attention.

Bercier will serve three years and five months in federal prison, to be followed by three years of supervised release. He will also have to pay restitution of $2,890.36 and a $100
special assessment to the Crime Victim`s Fund.
