Belcourt Man Sentenced to 20 Years for Sex Offenses

A Belcourt man was sentenced today to 20 years in prison for sex offenses. Neil Houle, 29, was sentenced on charges of attempted aggravated sexual abuse and failure to update sex offender registration. He will serve 20 years in federal prison, to be followed by 15 years of supervised release.

Houle pleaded guilty to the charges in May.

In August of 2011, he entered a residence through a window and attempted to rape a juvenile. But the juvenile was able to escape.

In addition to the prison sentence, Houle will also have to pay restitution of $294 and a $200 special assessment to the Crime Victim`s Fund.
