"We moved here to be in the country, I don`t think we`re going to be in the country for long. We`ve been told we’ll probably be annexed, that you have to be annexed in probably in the next few years,” said resident Sanya Wilson.
"We feel like we`re almost in Minot. The noise level is high, more airplanes, more construction out here. So other than you still have two acres, you basically have the same noise that you do in town,” said resident Kathy Stanley.
Houses are constructed on the lots fast. With water and sewer infrastructure in the works, there`s much more to come.
"There`s a big huge development going on over here, that`s suppose to have apartments and duplexes and houses around it on small lots and then we`ve seen plans that go back here, that some people are selling their land off back there. I can`t remember how many houses they said, but it`s going to be, it`s a lot of houses,” said Wilson.
Directly south of the area is 13th St. southeast, where residents have already experienced the same adjustment, going from the outskirts of the city to basically in the city.
"We had a dirt road with very little traffic and we actually ended up paving the road by ourselves. We all got together and paved the road and now we have more traffic and it`s difficult getting out in the road once and a while in the morning because of the traffic on 13th,” said resident Dick Nester.
But most residents are optimistic about the ever-evolving city infrastructure.
"But it`ll be okay, it`ll be alright, I have good faith in it, Minot`s a beautiful city, it`s going to grow,” said Wilson.
"We`ll be fine, we`ll have to be,” said Nester.
“Minot`s not even going to look the same five years from now so I can`t think of a better place for us to be then where we are right now,” said Stanley.
The city is also working on plans for sewer and water infrastructure in southwest Minot, west of the Walmart complex, where the same type of development is projected.
