If you are in a fender-bender, it`s a good idea to get as much information as possible to your insurance agent. That`s why the National Association of Insurance Commissioners has developed an app to help you document the accident. The free app, called Wreck Check, is available for both the iPhone and Android.

With the app, you can take photos, gather information and e-mail your agent. Having a lot of documentation is an important step of the claim filing process.

"Gathering as much information as possible, possessing that record, getting that information to your insurance agent helps not only the initiation of the claim, but the claim process in general. So we want folks to get involved as early as possible, get their insurance company involved as early as possible. And this Wreck Check app helps that process right at the scene of the accident," said North Dakota Insurance Commissioner Adam Hamm.

If you or someone else is injured in an accident, you should dial 911 first.
