Labor Day at Fort Lincoln | Video

It`s a busy weekend for campgrounds across North Dakota, including Fort Abraham Lincoln State Park near Mandan. The holiday weekend has helped the park boost visitation numbers.

Last year at this time, the park was forced to close because of the flood, but this summer, it`s making a comeback.

"We`d probably be swimming right now on this area last year but we put a lot of time and effort into it. And we got the campground back in shape. It`s really rewarding that we`ve got people here. You know, it`s full!" said park manager Dan Schelske.

While the campgrounds are full this weekend, Schelske says there are plenty of activities for families to enjoy.

If you`re just looking for a day trip, Schelske says visitors are encouraged to come out for a bike ride or to go canoeing.
