Jury Duty Scams | Video

Alex Hagan | 9/3/2012

The North Dakota Court System is warning the public about a possible prank. The prank involves a call, email or text message indicating that person has failed to report to jury duty. They are given the choice of paying a fine or going to jail. Although the prank asks for money, there is no danger of losing funds.

Court administrators say it easy to tell the difference between what`s real or not.

"It will come in an envelope from the Clerk of Court and the county that the person resides in and they will need to report to the court house, but they will not be asked to provide any private information on that response," said Court Administrator Donna Wunderlich.

While this prank won`t steal any money, other pranks in the past have asked for credit card numbers or a social security number.
