Authorities Investigate Tuesday Oil Rig Explosion | Video

Authorities are continuing to investigate an oil rig explosion near Stanley on Tuesday morning that seriously burned a worker. Jeffery Kinkaid, 29, from Nephi, Utah, fell from the top of a tank after the explosion. Ninety percent of his body sustained burns.

Kinkaid was flown to Trinity Hospital in Minot, and then transferred to a burn unit at a hospital in Minnesota.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time. The Mountrail County Sheriff’s Department and the oil company the owns the rig are investigating.
