| 9/7/2012

Early this morning, 55 North Dakota soldiers returned to the United States. The soldiers, with the North Dakota Army National Guard`s Headquarters and Headquarters Company of the 1st Battalion, 112th Aviation Regiment (Security and Support), are based in Bismarck. The unit was deployed to Kosovo last September as part of a NATO peacekeeping operation.

"Today, 55 Soldiers from the 1-112th Aviation Regiment are safely back home on American soil following a successful year of peacekeeping operations in Kosovo," said Governor Jack Dalrymple. "We are so grateful to them and their families for their outstanding service and for the incredible sacrifice they have made for our state and nation. We look forward to welcoming them home to North Dakota and their families."

"Thank you for your dedicated service this past year. I applaud and salute your service and commitment to duty," said Maj. Gen. David Sprynczynatyk, who was on site this morning. "We are very excited to have you nearly home, please extend my thanks to your families and employers, as well. Without their support, your mission wouldn`t have been as successful."

The soldiers will return to North Dakota in about a week. They are currently completing demobilization briefings, healthcare checks and paperwork at Camp Atterbury, IN.
