Pumpkin Patch Welcomes Volunteers | Video

Michelle San Miguel | 9/8/2012

A popular pumpkin patch in Bismarck is counting down until opening day. Papa`s Pumpkin Patch invited volunteers to the patch Saturday to check out the new attractions and help put the finishing touches on some exhibits.

This year more than 500 people will be volunteering at the patch, helping to run everything from the zip lines to the concession stands.

"It`s a safe, fun, friendly environment and it`s a family experience that`s unlike any other and we wouldn`t miss it for the world," said volunteer Sandra McMerty.

"It`s beautiful. There`s corn, there`s squash, there`s pumpkins," said eight-year-old Finn McMerty.

More than 50,000 people are expected to come to the patch this season. Papa`s Pumpkin Patch opens Monday and will be open daily from noon to 7:00 p.m.
