Tomorrow Declared Patriot Day, Flags to be Flown at Half-Staff

| 9/10/2012

In accordance with a presidential proclamation, Governor Jack Dalrymple has declared tomorrow, September 11, as Patriot Day and a Day of Service and Remembrance to mark the 11th anniversary of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. He has also directed all state government agencies to fly the American and North Dakota flags at half-staff and is encouraging all North Dakotans to do the same.

Dalrymple also asks citizens to observe a national moment of silence beginning at 8:46 a.m. Eastern Daylight Time.

"As we mark the anniversary of this solemn and defining moment in our nation`s history, we remember the thousands of innocent lives lost, we extend our thoughts and prayers to their families, and we honor the men and women who risked and sacrificed their lives so others might survive," Dalrymple said. "On this day and every day, we recognize our brave men and women in uniform and all of our veterans, the dedicated members of our public safety, law enforcement and intelligence communities, and the thousands of others who work night and day to protect us from harm and preserve the freedom of this great nation."
