Muslim Presentation | Video

Rene Thibault | 9/11/2012

Minot State`s new Arabic Club held a presentation today to discuss topics related to the 9-11 Attacks.

The club is promoting better understanding of the Muslim community. Around forty people gathered in the Multicultural Center to hear two speakers from the Muslim community: Islam Farag, a Fulbright language teaching assistant from Egypt, and Dr. Badie Alakech, a Trinity Hospital Pathologist and leader of the Minot Mosque. They wanted to educate the crowd about relations between Islamic countries and the United States.

“We hope to exchange cultures and be ambassadors to people, show people the reality, show them what Arabs are and what our customs are”, said Farag. “I hope people will understand that terrorism belongs to no religion, it is a religion of its own, if you want to call it that. Terrorism will hurt everyone here or there”, added Alakech.

This is the first year for the Arabic Club, they plan on hosting more events and are dedicated to educating people about customs in Arabic countries.
