Another Bypass Milestone | Video

Sarahbeth Ackerman | 9/11/2012

Another milestone occurred for the 55th Street Bypass and Bridge Project in Minot today. The first of the three major deck pours were put in place on the top of the Northeast Bypass Bridge.

The fresh concrete was poured and will take about two weeks to harden before the forms can be properly removed.

"Well today after the deck is poured, the contractor will be putting a wet cure on it, they put burlap down and keep the top of that burlap wet for 10 days to let the concrete gear slowly and then after this they move down to start tying down the rest of the steel on the middle deck," says Project Engineer, Jeff McElwain.

Once the steel is put in place, they workers are hoping to pour the concrete at the end of September.
