"Is the Fed statement going to stimulate the stock market or not? Are realtors working as hard as they used to?"
Last winter, this outspoken, yet knowledgeable, mortgage lender with Cornerstone Bank was given a sounding board to voice his concerns about the housing market in the Bismarck/Mandan area.
"So basically, this is just bringing my work life to the radio," Sheehan said.
Sheehan hosts a one-hour program every Tuesday on 1270 AM radio, called Mortgage Talk 101.
"So, we kind of have this two-fold purpose. Talk about the market, educate people about all the underpinnings of the real estate market, and then bring that information to North Dakota," Sheehan said.
Sheehan says after nine months of doing the weekly radio show, one major issue keeps coming up: When to buy and when to sell.
"You might wait and the house prices might go down. But you might erase all of that savings in your payment, because interest rates might go up. So it`s like a great chess game."
A game that Sheehan helps everyday listeners navigate by taking phone calls, interviewing guests and giving daily updates on industry trends around the country.
"What I`m able to do is relay my own answers to customers and clients that I have," Sheehan said.
With less than a year under his radio-show belt, Sheehan admits there are challenges with the new medium, even for someone who`s known for his talkativeness.
"How hard it is to cover an hour," Sheehan said.
Yet, as the market in Bismarck-Mandan tightens and interest rates remain a moving target, Sheehan is guaranteed to have plenty to talk about. You can catch Sheehan`s show every Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. on Super Talk 1270 AM.
