NDSU President Responds to Charges Filed Against Athletes

| 9/12/2012

Today, the president of North Dakota State University issued a statement regarding charges filed against student athletes. In a letter to campus staff and students, President Dean Bresciani said that all students are subject to the disciplinary process, and that students who also are involved in a co-curricular activities, such as athletics, also are subject to review by those groups.

"We take this matter very seriously," he Bresciani said. "I guarantee that students get fair reviews and are disciplined appropriately. I apologize for any confusion caused by our athletics department comments about the student disciplinary process. Contrary to what has been suggested or implied, no decisions have been made. As in all such cases, decisions will be made after an appropriate institution review process. Our core values are rooted in integrity through principled action and ethical decision making as well as accountability to the people of North Dakota. Our review processes reflect those values."

The NDSU review process is conducted by the Dean of Student Life Office. According to NDSU, the review typically requires about three weeks.
