Alzheimer`s Awareness | Video

Michelle San Miguel | 9/14/2012

More than 19,000 people in North Dakota are living with Alzheimer`s disease, and even more are expected to be diagnosed over the next several years. In many cases, those with Alzheimer`s are cared for by their families.

But there may come a time when they need to go into a care facility.

"If somebody is hiding in a closet because the man that`s in their house is an intruder and going to harm you or rob you, it gets to that point where when the caregiver is starting to become more aggressive then it`s just time to step in and say need we need more help," said James Bender with the Alzheimer`s Association.

Tomorrow morning the Alzheimer`s Association is holding its annual walk to end Alzheimer`s at the Municipal Country Club in Bismarck.

Registration begins at 8:00. The walk starts at 9:30.
