The group spoke about the plans for the airport, then took a tour of the grounds. They headed to air traffic control to get a birds-eye-view to visualize the changes for the facilities. New run-ways, control tower and terminal are all on the way.
The entire project is estimated to cost near $80 million dollars, the bulk of funding is coming from Federal grants.
Senator Hoeven says the changes are past-due, “Just that it`s exciting for the community, it`s something that touches everyone in the community and the region. Good air service is vital and clearly anyone that’s been out here, whether it`s parking, whether it`s room in the terminal, number of flights, all those things they know it`s needed. They other good thing though, is that you`re seeing airlines continue to provide more service, and better air craft coming in here, so that`s important and great news for the community and the region.”
Work is already under way, and the hope is for the new terminal to be completed in 2014.
