National Thank a Police Officer Day | Video

Chris Williams | 9/14/2012

Police officers work hard every day, and they never know what to expect. The men and women in the line of duty in Williston have been working overtime to keep up with the increasing crime rate.

Their job isn`t easy, but they all love showing up for work to protect the community. Tomorrow is National Thank A Police Officer Day and in Williston kids wrote messages to all the officers thanking them.

The organization Wives Behind the Badge is asking for everyone to say, "Thank You" tomorrow.

"Being the wife of an officer, it would be nice for people to say thank you to them. There`s a lot of people out there that resent officers. You see the hard ships that they go through of the resentment and losing a brother in through the line of duty. Just being able to say thank you to an officer would mean a lot to them," said Heather Emerson, North Dakota Auxiliary Director for Wives Behind the Badge.

Although they don`t do it for a thank you, police officers don`t mind hearing it.

"It is really nice to every once and awhile hear a thank you. And most of the time we, as police officers here in Williston, we do hear thank you from our community and we really appreciate that," said Williston Police Detective David Peterson.

If you have a chance tomorrow, make sure to tell a police officer thank you.
