Holiday Shopping for Kids in Need | Video

Michelle San Miguel | 9/16/2012

On a Sunday afternoon you`d normally find bikers on the open road, but this afternoon dozens of them were shopping for holiday gifts for underprivileged children.

The U.S. Marine Corps Reserves and the Abused Adult Resource Center teamed up for the second annual shop and ride for the Toys for Tots program. About ten businesses in the Bismarck Mandan area donated money for the drive. That money combined with donations from motorcyclists in the state helped shoppers purchase hundreds of toys to pass out to children during the holidays.

"Motorcyclists are giving people and what better group of people to organize something to give to kids than motorcyclists and motorcycle clubs," said Jerod Hawk, who organized the event. "It makes me smile. Definitely nothing like giving."

"Why is it important for me to give back? Well I have kids myself. They`re all grown and off to college and working. It`s nice to see," said motorcyclist Roland Reisenauer.

After the shopping trip, motorcyclists rode out to visit different sponsors to thank them for their donations.
