Their jobs are to protect and serve, and now they have the experience of waiting tables. Law enforcement personnel in Bismarck worked dinner shifts at Applebee`s restaurants, collecting tips. The tips will go to support Special Olympics.

"I think it`s important for staff to get involved and to be able to give back. This is the charity of choice for law enforcement across the U.S. So it`s for a good cause and it`s not just in this state, it`s across the whole U.S.," said Bismarck Transition Center Administrator Kevin Arthaud.

Bismarck Police and the Burleigh County Sheriff`s Department took part in the promotional event.
