Empower the States Act | Video

Senator Hoeven says he plans to introduce a measure this week to put the states first when it comes to regulating hydraulic fracturing. Hoeven, along with Senator Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, say the Empower States Act will help ensure that states keep the right to manage hydraulic fracturing.

It would also allow the states to respond first to violations.

"We provide clear guidelines so that states can take that approach and so that you empower the kind of investment that we`re getting here in North Dakota. But we need to so that across the country."

Hoeven says the act is needed because every state does hydraulic fracturing different and a one size fits all approach won`t work for many of the states.
