This is the big day for millions of apple users. The iPhone 5 hit the stores, and people waited in line to make sure they were one of the first to get the new gadget.

At 20 minutes till 8:00 Firday morning at least 30 people were lined up outside Verizon Wireless near downtown Bismarck.

Darrin Lee said, "Got the number one card."

To get that spot Lee got to the store at about 4:30 a.m.

Lee says, "I just was hoping to get a iPhone. I`m getting rid of my blackberry, finally. So it`s kind of a sad day too."

But any sadness didn`t last long, when the doors opened Lee was the first to go through and get his hands on a brand new iPhone 5.

"It`s thinner, got a better screen, a bigger display. There`s more features on the phone. Like the navigation on there, that`s probably the most popular thing is now it will talk to you and give you directions," said store manager Nicolle Fleck.

The phone also features a panoramic camera and enhanced HD video recording.

But no matter what feature buyers wanted the most, everyone left with a smile.

"Done!"

Kalyn Retterath upgraded from a older iPhone and couldn`t wait to try out the new one.

"Pretty excited, I`ve never gotten the newest and latest thing so this is really exciting."

Lee shared that excitement, just about four hours after getting in line he walked out with his new phone in hand.

The phone comes in black or white and prices start at $199.
