MSU Blood Drive | Video

Jenny Castro | 9/25/2012

After a busy summer, donations at the United Blood Services have been a little low. But they were able to get a boost Tuesday from the college kids here in Minot.

Minot State University hosted a blood drive for the first time in several years and had an excellent turnout with 31 units of blood collected. The
"first time" donors are typically the hardest to get, but today over half of the donors were first timers.

“The worst thing is a prick of the finger, which isn`t that bad, and you should really just donate because it really helps people,” said first time donor Ciara Peterson.

More than 1,800 units of blood are needed each week to serve the 83 hospitals in the area. If you`d like to donate you can schedule an appointment at the United Blood Services here in Minot, their number is 1-800-863-9079.
