Heating Cost Assistance | Video

Jennifer Joas | 10/1/2012

There`s no doubt North Dakota can have cold winters and heating costs can be a burden on low-income families. That`s why the Department of Human Services offers a program to help families pay a portion of heating costs.

To qualify, a family of three must earn less than $39,000 per year. The application period begins today.

"I would encourage anyone in North Dakota to apply for the program because we never know for sure what our heating season will look like," said Carol Cartledge with the Department of Human Services.

The program can also pay for furnace repairs and weatherization services. To see if you qualify, visit your social services office.

The application can be found online at www.nd.gov/eforms/Doc/sfn00529.pdf.
