A Healthy North Dakota Lunch | Video

Jessica Roose | 10/2/2012

More than 31,000 North Dakota students enjoyed a special lunch today, created from a wide range of North Dakota products. Pride of Dakota School Lunch Day started eleven years ago to not only give students a healthy meal but also to teach them about agriculture.

Ag Commissioner Doug Goehring had lunch with students at St. Mary`s Elementary School. He says there are 42 commodities produced in our state.

"We have more and more fruits and vegetables being produced. Maybe not at a commercial scale but at a level where they can supply food programs across the state for a period of time. Maybe in the fall, late summer and it serves a great benefit."

More than 130 schools participated in today`s lunch.
