Importance of the Minot Air Force Base | Video

Congressman Rick Berg was in Minot today talking with community leaders about the importance of the Minot Air Force Base. The base employs about 7,000 and supports another 2,000 jobs in the Minot community. The air force base creates a nearly $500 million economic impact. Officials know the base is important to more than just Minot.

"The Minot Air Force Base is absolutely critical for Minot, it`s critical for North Dakota, it`s critical for America. With all the threats going on right now in the Middle East, we have to have peace come through strength. And the Minot Air Force Base is critical nationally as well as locally," Berg said.

A spokesman for Bergs opponent in the upcoming Senate race, Hiedi Heitkamp, says Heitkamp is also committed to a strong national defense. Including preserving our nation`s missile defense system and North Dakota military bases.
