Ryan Taylor on Energy | Video

Energy is the hot issue on the campaign trail. Today Ryan Taylor spoke about his plans if elected governor.

He says he would like to increase the stripper tax, which currently reduces the oil tax on wells producing less than 30 barrels a day.

He also would like to incentivize the construction of more oil refineries in the state and increase the oil and gas tax distribution formula for local communities.

"We realize that that surplus didn`t come for free. And that there are needs out there. And we talk about our funding plan for distributing oil tax funds and not letting it come to Bismarck first, for them to come and ask for a grant back, but leaving it there in the first place," said Ryan Taylor, (D) Candidate for Governor.

Governor Jack Dalrymple`s communications director said the Governor is addressing the needs that come with rapid growth, including his proposal to change the Oil Tax Distribution Formula to further benefit counties impacted by oil development.
