Students Get A Hands On Lesson | Video

Alyssa Marino | 10/12/2012

Students at the Bismarck Career Academy got a dose of the real world this morning. Electronics Instructor, Joel Gustafson, brought in a representative from Acme Tools to demonstrate how an aerial lift works. The students have been spending class time building surveillance cameras and installing them in the ceilings. So, the lifts are needed to get the job done. Gustafson says it`s not only a learning activity, but it gives them a look at a future job opportunity.

"It`s not just a teacher that`s telling them this. It`s someone that might have a job for them and a pay check that`s telling them, teaching them things they need in order to enter the work force."

The students were able to practice driving the lifts through an obstacle course and ask questions. Gustafson says he always looks for opportunities to bring in industry trained professionals.
