2012 Pheasant Opener | Video

J.R. Havens | 10/12/2012

It`s almost like a holiday. The state pheasant opener is anticipated by thousands. The resident opener starts 30 minutes before sunrise tomorrow, and the Game and Fish Department says this season is expected to be one of the best since 2007. The southwest part of the state is typically the hot spot, but statewide numbers are high.

"You can just see the pheasants, they`re all over the place up there, I mean a lot of them are younger birds but I`m really optimistic from what I`ve seen and Dad`s up there all the time and he has some good reports from him all the time and if we don`t limit out in an hour I`d be surprised," said hunter Jamie Brecht.

The non-resident season starts next weekend.
