Here at NBC North Dakota News, we believe strongly in localism. By that, we mean we want our newscasts to really address the needs and concerns of our viewers right here in Western North Dakota. As part of that, we have attempted to schedule debates with the state`s top candidates that would air statewide in prime time. So far only the two candidates for congress: Pam Gulleson and Kevin Cramer have accepted.

Additionally, we are offering the candidates for the state`s top offices a chance to talk with you here, on First News at Five. This afternoon we have State Senator Ryan Taylor, who is running for election against Governor Jack Dalrymple. We will start with a statement by the senator, and after a break, we`ll take the time to ask a few questions.
