Measures 1 and 2 | Video

Jessica Roose | 10/16/2012

The first two measures on the ballot aren`t getting much attention. The Secretary of State considers them more or less housekeeping items. Measure 1 would repeal a section of the state constitution that had allowed the state to levy a poll tax. A poll tax has never been levied. In 1964, the Federal Government prohibited states from doing so.

Measure 2 would amended the state constitution to include wording that would require that members of the executive branch take an oath of office, which they have already been doing all along.

"I would encourage people to vote yes on both of them. But the fact is that both are already covered under the constitution or in existing state law," said Secretary of State Al Jaeger.

The measures were put on the ballot by the legislature.
