Increasing Gun Sales | Video

Rene Thibault | 10/22/2012

Four years ago, gun enthusiasts predicted Barack Obama would be the most anti-gun President in American history. That has proved NOT to be the case.

In fact, the firearm industry has seen a boom under President Obama. Gun sales are on the rise and the number of federally licensed retail-gun-dealers has increased by almost 3,000 since 2009 - that`s the biggest increase in 20 years.

In Minot, every aspect of the gun world is thriving, including gun repairs.

“There`s a lot of people buying more guns, I know there are. The statistics are published, they`re out there. I do see that in the fact that there are some people who are bringing in guns that they`re not as familiar with because they recently procured them”, said Mark Vickerman, a local gunsmith.

During the last Presidential Debate, the President did suggest renewing a U.S. Ban on assault weapons, but has made no pledges for any sort of new gun control legislation.
