"I think like so many people in this country, I had great hope for this president who promised hope and change. And I think I`m like a lot of people in this country who think that the President has let us down," Heitkamp said during the interview.
"Heidi says that she`s disappointed in the President and she`s for the keystone pipeline and she`s for western North Dakota and for fracking and horizontal drilling. When in fact not only did she vote for the President in 2008 and call him amazing, but she`s also going to vote for him again in 2012," said NDGOP Communications Director Anna Nix.
"You know I think it was a bonehead move of the President not to approve the Keystone pipeline. I think it was wrong of the President not to promote clean coal technologies as he promised," Heitkamp said during the interview.
"I think people see through it. The people of North Dakota can see through what she`s saying and see the truth about Heidi Heitkamp. I think that their aware that you can`t vote for Barack Obama and be pro North Dakota. You can`t be pro Keystone pipeline and support Harry Reid for majority leader," Nix said.
"She is much more prepared to be in Congress and she will stick up for North Dakota. Not like Mr. Berg did not. Representative Berg did not stick up for this state," said Bismarck resident Audrey Cleary.
"Seems to be kind of convenient, politically, you know. I think she took a lot of heat for supporting Obama and so I think she you know is trying to do something to win a race," said Bsimarck resident Tom Giltner.
As we`ve mentioned before, we`ve offered Rick Berg the same opportunity of 10 minutes to talk on First News at Five, but he has yet to schedule a day. But if he does, we will also have reaction to what he has to say.
