Monster Dash Draws Spooky Crowd | Video

Joel Porter | 10/27/2012

Police officers in Bismarck were encouraging people to bring out their costumes a few days early to the park on Saturday morning. Around 120 people showed up to Sertoma Park to run in the second annual Monster Dash. The 5K and 10K runs are a fundraiser for the Fraternal Order of Police.

Despite the light snowfall in the morning, many runners sported a variety of costumes, from the scary to the hilarious.

"It`s actually starting to come down pretty good. A little accumulation. The diehards came out and as anticipated, we got some great costumes, great individuals and some great group costumes. We love the spirit the people bring out here," Bismarck police officer Tim Sass said.

Sass helped organize the run.

The proceeds raised from the dash are used to take children from low-income families around Bismarck and Mandan Christmas shopping.
