Minot Helping Disaster Victims | Video

Amy Fox | 10/29/2012

As hurricane Sandy approaches the east coast, some Minot residents are making the trip across the country to lend a helping hand. With less than 12 hours notice, two American Red Cross volunteers in Minot traveled to New Jersey to help out in shelters and feeding stations.

In a small way, folks in Minot believe it`s a way of saying thank you for the help they received during the devastating flood last summer.

"When we went through our struggles in Minot, Bismarck, and Fargo, people from across the nation came to help us, so I think this is a unique opportunity for us to give back and to do something for others like they did for us,” said American Red Cross Region Chief Executive Officer Randy Johnson.

The American Red Cross currently has 112 shelters set up for people impacted by Hurricane Sandy.
