School Rehab | Video

The first of the month means Minot`s public school meeting is in session. First on the agenda, flood recovery update. Project manager Jason Peterson gave a power point presentation at the meeting to show the progress of the school`s reconstruction.

Great news for students, the expected date for the majority of the school’s to enter the reconstructed buildings is the fall of 2013 school year. Peterson said progress has been speedy because of the dry fall, but as we continue further into the winter months, progress could slow down due to rain and snow.

The rehabilitation is great for Minot residents, but with the growing population, could school overcrowding be an issue?

Superintendant of Minot public schools Mark Vollmer said, “The growth is a whole other issue, we`re recovering from the flood, rebuilding what we had and now we`re going to be even more building most likely to meet the needs of this ever changing community."

Vollmer knows the reconstruction means a lot to the community, and will motivate individuals to get back to the way they were before the flood.

"I think it`s very motivating, our goal is to get back to a sense of normalcy as quickly as possible and we like what we see."
