Special Olympics Athletes Pack Bowling Alley | Video

Michelle San Miguel | 11/3/2012

Hundreds of bowlers were at Midway Lanes in Mandan Saturday for the 25th annual Special Olympics State Bowling Tournament. Nearly 600 Special Olympics athletes from all over the state packed into the bowling alley. The weekend-long event has become a crowd favorite for many, as they reunite with old friends and make new ones.

"We have a Special Olympics athlete who said to his mom: `Why do you like Special Olympics so much?` It`s because everybody there was just like him and he felt wanted and needed and important. And we all want to feel that way," said Kathy Meagher, CEO and president of Special Olympics.

Special Olympics North Dakota is always looking for volunteers to help with upcoming events like cross country skiing and snowshoeing. For information on how to become a volunteer visit www.specialolympicsnorthdakota.org.
