Volunteers Hang Service Ribbons at Capitol | Video

Joel Porter | 11/4/2012

Veterans Day is only about a week away and North Dakota volunteers say they`re committed to honoring service men and women until they return home. On Sunday afternoon, around 10 volunteers from the Patriot Guard and the North Dakota National Guard hung 24 yellow ribbons on trees on the state capitol grounds.

Organizers say they`re not sure why the previous ribbons were taken down, but they wanted to replace every one this weekend.

"Our soldiers that`re over in Afghanistan and other parts of the world, it`s very important they know that we care about them over here," volunteer Rosemary Fleck said.

Volunteers also hung POW MIA markers and pictures of fallen soldiers from North Dakota.
