BPS Building Update | Video

Kristin Clouston | 11/8/2012

The Bismarck School District has decided to stagger the construction of its new schools. Administrators say building both elementary schools at the same time would raise costs by at least 10 percent.

Crews have started working on the Lincoln school, it should be open in the middle of the next school year. The school on the northwest side of town will open in the fall of 2014.

"That`s what the schedule is saying is the most efficient way to get the buildings done, you know in a manner that we can afford," said Superintendent Tamara Uselman.

The design team also said it needed more time to work on changes because of site adaptation. The high school on the northeast section of town will open in the fall of 2015. It will be just to the west of the KOA campground.
