"We`ve got all our blades ready, most of them have all the gate on them, all the sanders are ready, the loaders, all the equipment is ready so we get it done," says Todd Boechler with the City Department.
With all of the preparations, Boechler says you never really know what type of conditions you have until you are working on the roads. But he says, they are equipment to handle the city streets.
"If we have a lot of snow that`s falling, we may sand a hill and 20 to 30 minutes later and it`s probably covered again and that sand has become ineffective," said Larry Haug with Minot Police.
Although the snow can pile up fast, the city will hit their main snow routes and secondary routes throughout the day.
Police recommend trying to take alternative routes that are not so hilly.
"Around town that could be a problem, but if is is a possibilty try and do that," said Haug.
City workers will begin sanding the main roads starting at 8A.M and will continue to work throughout the day.
Police are asking drivers to be cautious on the roadways over the next few days. And for a more detailed search of the snowplow routes, log onto www.minotnd.org.
